Trump’s Baltimore Comments Could Impact Federal Investments

President Donald Trump escalated a war of words with Maryland Gov. Wes Moore (D-Md) on Sunday, threatening to send National Guard troops into Baltimore while questioning the Democrat’s record on crime.

Trump Blasts Baltimore Crime, Threatens Federal Funding

The clash erupted after Moore urged Trump to “walk our streets and not just talk about us from the Oval Office.”

In a Truth Social post, Trump shot back: “Governor Wes Moore of Maryland has asked, in a rather nasty and provocative tone, that I ‘walk the streets of Maryland’ with him.”

“I assume he is talking about out of control, crime ridden, Baltimore? As President, I would much prefer that he clean up this Crime disaster before I go there for a ‘walk.'”

Trump further warned he may rethink federal funding for the Francis Scott Key Bridge rebuild, destroyed in last year’s cargo ship crash, and raised questions about Moore’s past misstatement regarding a Bronze Star award.

Moore Fires Back

Moore countered with sharp attacks of his own, accusing Trump of trying to “distract from the Epstein files” and pointing to Trump’s alleged draft dodging during Vietnam.

“Donald Trump can stay obsessed with me – that’s fine – but I’ll stay obsessed with working in partnership to continue our historic success of driving down crime in Baltimore,” he wrote on X.

Newsom Mocks Trump As Vance Warns Democrats Against ‘Imitation’ Politics

In the same Truth Social post, Trump mocked California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-Calif), and suggested he would send “troops” to Baltimore to “clean up” crime.

This month, Newsom mocked Trump over his one-word Truth Social post, “bela,” comparing it to Trump’s past “covfefe” blunder and taunting him with jokes about his intelligence and “beautiful maps.”

The online jabs came as Newsom and California Democrats unveiled a proposed congressional map that could create up to five new Democratic-leaning seats, a direct counter to Texas Republicans’ redistricting push.

Last week, Vice President JD Vance criticized Newsom for trying to mimic Trump’s social-media style, saying Trump’s political strength lies in his authenticity.

Speaking on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle, Vance argued Democrats are misreading their 2024 losses and offered “free political advice”: stop sounding “like crazy people,” be honest with voters, and focus on authenticity rather than imitation.
